Real Estate Sites Should Expect Traffic Drop

Realty sites should get ready for a huge traffic drop over the coming months!  Based on our data and trends over the past several years, we predict 2012 will have a similar traffic drop to what we have witnessed in the past.   This is likely due to the fact that school has just begun, and people tend to avoid looking for new homes over the holidays.

Real estate related searches generally peak in July, and then steadily decline until the day after Christmas, where searches will begin to rebound.   Post Christmas and into the New Year will send you a nice pop in activity as future home owners make their ‘New Year’s resolutions’ to move or buy a new home.

Tip to remember! Search activity precedes an actual move by 6 months on average.

If you’ve been considering optimizing your Real Estate site for search, now is a great time to start!  Search Engine Optimization can take some time before you begin to see improved rankings and traffic.  Starting an SEO strategy now will prepare your website in advance; allowing you to capture a higher volume of traffic for those post-Christmas season searches!
